University Continuing Professional Development Certificate in Forensic Collision Investigation

Description
This 9 month distance learning course with one week summer school (summer school available in the UK and Australia) is certificated by De Montfort University, Leicester and delivered by AiTS. The course is recognised by The Institute of Traffic Accident Investigators and Association of Chief Police Officers.

The course starts by explaining the maths and physics necessary to understand the discipline. Later modules apply these principles to the techniques used in collision reconstruction. This is reinforced during the practical module when students put these techniques into practice.

Throughout the course emphasis is placed on understanding the methods used rather than just following rigid procedures. Full tutor support is provided throughout. Tutors are also responsible for assessing students in a series of written assessments which count towards the final marks. The course comprises three modules;
  ENGS1003,  Collision Fundamentals
  ENGS1002,  Collision Case Studies
  ENGS1005, Statistics for Collision Investigators

Successful students will be able to reconstruct collisions and present their evidence in Court.

Successful completion
To successfully pass the course students must;

  Pass 4 home based Tutor Assessments
  Pass a practical assessment during summer school
  Pass a final written examination set by De Montfort University
